Burstable bandwidth refers to the capacity of the internet channel for a customer's web hosting account, whether it be shared hosting, a virtual private server (VPS), cloud services, physical server, or colocation unit. It is important to note that bandwidth is not the same as Data Transfer. With burstable bandwidth, customers have the ability to consume more internet traffic than their contracted limitation allows, in order to handle temporary spikes in internet traffic and deliver content effectively. For example, a service plan may offer 10 Mbps of monthly bandwidth, but the customer's account will be set up with a speed limit of 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps.
Shared Hosting
Shared Hosting, also known as name-based or IP-based Virtual Hosting Accounts or Virtual Hosts, is hosted on physical servers connected through 1 GigE ports. Each web hosting account is capable of handling significant internet traffic spikes, reaching up to a few hundreds of Mbps.
VPS & Cloud Services
By default, all VPS, VM, and Cloud Services provided by CooliceHost have a logical internet channel limits. However, customers may have a service plan that features a 1000 GB limit for internet traffic. It's important to note that 1000 GB of measured traffic accounts for a speed of only 3.09 Mbps. This does not mean that the speed of the internet connectivity is limited to 3.09 Mbps. Instead, it is set at 100 Mbps, allowing the hosting instance owner to deliver content during any temporary spikes in internet traffic.
VDS
All Dedicated Servers and Colocation plans are connected to a specific GigE physical interfaces, unless the customer specifically requests a 10 GigE port.
Important Note: Bandwidth does not refer to the amount of data transferred to or from a website, hosting account, or server within a certain period of time. The more accurate terms to describe the accumulated bandwidth consumption over a month are Data Transfer or Monthly Data Transfer.
